“Politics – Civil Society” Meeting
The meeting entitled “Politics – Civil Society” was held on September 24, 2004, and organized by DEMO within the “School for Young Political Leaders” program. The objective of this meeting is to contribute to the consolidation of pluralistic practices in Mongolia, to provide the party leaders and members background information about civil society and its concepts, and to develop constructive relations between political party and civil society representatives.
The meeting was attended 38 members from MPRP, MDP, MNSDP, and CW-RP. There were given the presentations on “What is Civil Society?” (presenter: T. Undarya, Doctoral Candidate, Department of Political Science, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, USA), “Internal Democracy within Mongolian Political Parties” (presenter: E. Gerelt-Od, lecturer-researcher of Department of Political Science, MSUE), and “Civil Participation in Mongolia” (presenter: B. Oyunbileg, Advisor, World Bank-Mongolia).
